I just beat the game for the first time and was blown away. Really great game, I didn't have any issues with the camera at all. There were some frustrating puzzles only because they were a, "How was I supposed to know that?" type thing, rather than the puzzles themselves being hard. Like being in a certain area so Trico would respond to you, etc.But I loved it. I'd give it an 8.5, the ending and music was incredible though. Anyone who is skeptical because of the reviews, give it a try. It's well worth it.
It was never going to set the world on fire.
PS4 exclusive games pretty much never do unless its like Uncharted or something.
OH and Team ICO's games were never huge sellers.
I'm fairly certain it bombed.
Personally...... the game has so many problems and the biggest issues are actually in how the game handles;specifically the controls and the camera which are down right embarrassing.
I don't know if they're accurate or if the chart was updated recently, but it seems like The Last Guardian sold 1.26 million copies. In December 2016 the game was in the top 10 most popular Sony games (number 9, sorted by sales in dollars).
While it is not as good as the prior games, it is still worth investing your time on. The game has issues but if you persevere it's worth it. However, if you are relatively new to gaming, I would say play Ico and Shadow of the Colossus first.
Technical development. With initial ideas for The Last Guardian envisioned by Ueda since around 2005 after completing Shadow of the Colossus, the game was in active development since 2007, a year after the release of the PlayStation 3.
