Spider-Man PS5 leak reveals story details, game play and release window

Given the success of Marvel's Spider-Man for PS4, a sequel for the upcoming PS5 seems inevitable. And we just might have our first taste of what Spider-Man PS5 could play like, thanks to an alleged leak containing a ton of new story, gameplay and character details.

This leak comes from a now-deleted Reddit post (via The Game Post), which quotes a source that reportedly attended a long presentation on the sequel to Insomniac Games' hit 2018 action game. There are a ton of possible details to glean from this info dump, but here are some highlights.

kicking innocent pedestrians. There isn't an argument about his morality; with video evidence like this, there's only truth and denial.Because people aren't ready to face the truth that, when he's lost the ability to decorate the city with faux-concrete, Spiderman would get his kicks by

I get making the incentive to get a ps5 more significant but I thought the goal of having a console was to sell games, so why make it exclusive? A delayed release on other platforms would make sense but I don’t really get it. (Not doubting you bc that’s prob what’s gonna happen I just think it’s dumb)

Well, from the perspective of the company, they only make money from the console sales. Exclusives get more people to buy the console, and thus making Sony more money. I agree that it would be nice to get a multi platform release post launch, but optimizing for multiple systems also adds to development time and costs, and I just don’t think they would do that.

Perhaps most interesting is the fact that they seem to be following the footsteps of Sucker Punch's in Famous series and allowing the player to choose an evil path by outright attacking civilians. My working theory is this is how Venom will factor in. Every time the player does something evil, the symbiote will slowly take over Peter, while good deeds will fight back against it, but if you feed it too much, the suit turns black and Peter begins morphing into Venom.

I applaud Insomniac for this mechanic, as it sounds really cool! However, I am worried that this morality system could ruin the heart at the center of the game, which is Peter's character arc and strong moral compass. I'm not sure a Spider-Man is the best place for this kind of morality system, but I'm willing to give it a chance

Finally, my one gripe with this footage is the video quality appears a lot worse than the first game. One of my favorite parts about the first game was how realistic each suit looked, and I'm not getting the same sense from this footage that that will be the case here. If the story is strong enough, however, I may be able to look past this.

Overall, I think this looks like the second is going in a really interesting direction! It's not necessarily the way I thought it would go, but I'm really excited nonetheless!
